A rose lay dying,
Petals fell one and one and one.
Scattered, wind blown and random.
Upon fresh turned earth.

Bitter silence, cold, indifferent,
Wrapped around my shoulders.
A quiet companion
I held close.

Friends with strange faces,
Smile sadly with inadequate words.
Doled out cliches’ fallen
Upon ears that hear only your forgotten voice.

Memories of years revisited
Dusted off and polished.
Lost days too soon replaced with
Life that carries on and on.

A time for memories ~ before the day is over and the world moves on and on.

Reminds me of a wake where people talk and say so little;

They want to be seen as so caring

Yet often haven't got a clue of whom they're talking.

Your

choice of words makes this piece stand apart from other poems dedicated to loved ones lost. Very sweet and sad, my condolences to you.
