I hate how people are so insensitive today. As soon as God is mentioned the Christian haters come out with their tar and feathers. What happened to respecting people's beliefs? That only applies for everyone except for believers in Christ. That should tell you something. You are left in peace to believe in your preposterous life happened-by-chance fairy tale, so stop ridiculing the belief in God, that many have.

unexplained things happen all the time . whatever you believe is up to you . my youngest son is a christmas baby. my late daughter's daughter was born on the 23rd of dec. they both complain about getting shortchanged .

AnonymousAnonymous5 months ago

You just had to spoil it with all the god nonsense.

AnonymousAnonymous5 months ago

Being a christmas baby is bad enough, joint parties, friends can't make it because of family commitments, everything is xmas themed even though you just want to celebrate your birthday, but did Jerry and Sally have to make it worst by giving their twins Xmas themed names too? Talk about screwing up their future lives, they'll never be able to escape Xmas, say nothing of the teasing and bullying they'll get at school.

Sorry to burst the bubble of believers in the whole god thing but a quick Google search on the effectiveness of intercessory prayer will lead to a scientific study debunking the whole fantasy.

cruel ending would have been if the babies were a different nationality. oops!

otherwise, enjoyable and sweet story that was probably a little too sweet for the jaded.

AnonymousAnonymous8 months ago

Always appreciate a ending where everything comes together for the good of the people involved. There seems to be some disbelief by commentators that people can change. I can't testify to divine intervention or to the truth of out of body experiences but I can testify to people being able to change. People who know me now could never imagine what an absolute MFer I was in my youth. Meeting my wife made me realize what an idiot I was and what I needed to do to change it. Without her I would have been dead and buried long ago. The love of a good woman is often bandied about in Literotica stories but sometimes the trope is true. I know. Thanks for the story!

It seems a lot of the paragraphs were individual thoughts that didn’t tie in together well. It feels like the author was plugging in scenarios trying to keep the story exciting and/or intriguing which made it very choppy. Too bad.

Can't change. BULL. Every person has the ability to make an adjustment in life. Sally went to college and had a life changing event and followed through with a change in attitude. While it was extreme it happens. Great story because we all change.

So far I really enjoy your stories, I just can't stop reading your stories. You must not be an old timer, because from the stories I've read you seem to give sexual equality to the men and women in your stories, which in my estimation is refreshing. I should be working to wrap my story up, but your stories are better, I'm a first-timer.

Bringing religion into a Loving Wives story is tricky. DG Hear was able to dovetail that in a low key, realistic and meaningful way by using the desperation and torment of a man with nowhere else to turn. Well done!

Everyone Has A Closet

Great read,

If everyone opened up there closet from there youth and exposed there behavior we might have an overflow at the church parking lots.

Some of these stories but not all of them I share with my wife. I do believe this will be one I will be sharing with her.

My wife use to love to read but from the young age of 28 she became legally blind and can no longer see the print to read. With that said I read to her to keep her mind and her imagination on edge for lack of a better definition.

Thanks for the great story. Held me from start to finish.

Good story...

... But wish it was way better written.

For example, Deb is a completely mystery to me - how insane a cunt must you be to even entertainment the idea that cheating on my husband with your brother-in-law is a great way to get back at him for *raping your sister*... 'Gotta be one insane chick to come up with that logic, amirite?

Plus, there's a lot of unneeded repetitions throughout the story, and - certainly, an editor would have may the whole thing more readable. And then, sometimes, the whole thing felt so hollow... not good for such a dramatic tale.

But I do not hate the story - not at all. Except for the three obvious exemptions, all the characters here were really likable. I just think their collective journey deserved a more concile narrative structure.

As you can probably tell from my user name, I'm unlikely to attend a Mass any time soon, but unlike some other atheists, I have no problem reading stories with a religious bent to them... If the story is well written, which in this case is true.

After all, I thoroughly enjoy almost all of JimBob44's works and he definitely leans very heavily towards Catholicism (and in some cases anti atheism). I have even allowed a certain amount of religion into my own work (see The River) as even though I'm an atheist, my characters don't necessarily have to be.

From a personal standpoint, I did find the God stuff ladled on a bit thickly, but then it was the nature of the story, so I am willing to offer some latitude here. And to be honest, it didn't really detract from what was a highly enjoyable tale.

Another tear jerker

I agree women can sleep around just as men do. But once you commit to each other that life is over. As far as God is concerned , miracles happen but I do not believe that God had anything to do with it. People used to believe the sun was good or some stupid statute. Now we made God becauce we needed to ground people from all kinds of beliefs. That my theory. Millions have died over there godly beliefs. Nice story from DG Hear. He usually ends them like this.

I am in tears

I've pretty much seen how man can be in all his/her forms. I saw a father that got drunk on Christmas eve and stabbed his son over a crab cake, I've seen people go blow themselves up for their dream of 72 black eyed virgins. I've seen a teenager run into a burning building and could only save one of two children and I saw his aftermath. I've seen women and men cheat on their significant others even to the point of abusing them, men and women. I saw a frail 80 year old man rip open a door off a crashed car to save two babies while the car was on fire only to pass away from the burns after he made sure the children were safe. I saw a single mother who went nuts and put her own baby into a hot oven "because G-D told her to like abrahamtried to sacrafice Isaac. And I myself was in a car accident where I went face first into the windsheild of a 75 Buick sedan that was doing over 45mph. I was told that I died and that only the heroic efforts of the driver who hit me doing cpr saved me, or did he? I remember being above the scene and seeing all the drama played out. I felt myself pulled away only to see my grandmother in a field that I had never been to but later found. It happened to be a field where she grew up and she held me tight and explained how it wasn't my time yet. She then led me back and showed me myself on the roadway with the paramedics coming to work on me with the driver still doing CPR on me. I saw and heard my parent's crying next to my body while the driver prayed for me. I asked my Grandmother why I couldn't stay with her as I missed her terribly. Once again she told me it wasn't my time yet. Then she promissed to keep an eye on me and that she would always be close. I felt pulled back into my body as the medics continued to work on me but still felt I was a lost cause. When I woke up I was crying ( I was all of 13 at the time). I could still make out my Grandmother next to my parents when she turned to me and kissed my forehead, I could no longer hear her though. She faded away and I cried again. When I told everyone what I experienced they all put it down to just my brain making things up, that is until I described the field. My father went white as a ghost and explained that it was near to where my Grandmother (RIP) was raised and where my father lived near for most of his childhood. He never mentioned the place nor did he ever show me the pictures of it. I told him something that only my Grandmother and he knew about. I also spent three weeks in the hospital and then three months recovering. I got my second chance so I can empathise with the main character. According to the medics I was legally dead, they did not think I would make it to the hospital and they felt it was also a miracle. As to what G-D has planned for me I still do not know, but I do believe that I will see my Grandmother and now my mother again. I pray that I am making them proud and that I am fulfilling whatever it is that caused it to not be my time yet. I have often asked why was I sent back instead of some others that I've known personally and who I thought were better than me and deserved to live. Why was I so different? When I stand up in front of our G-D I will try to ask.

People say a leopard can't change it's spots but I think differently. They just have to want to do it enough and they can. At the time of my accident I was a young kid of 13 and started getting into trouble. After that I always ask myself would this make my Grandmother think less of me and if so I would stop and do something else. Cheaters can change, however I am one of the BTB crowd. Just because they can does not mean that the offended party should not seek retribution against the offender. Nor does it mean that they should be forgiven and allowed to return to the one that they offended. It just means that if they get a second chance (say with a new spouse) they should endevor to not repeat themselves. Yes they can and should change just with someone else.

In this story the girlfriend had changed, his sister though maybe not so much. It was never explained why she was so scared her husband would find out was she still up to her whole hijinx or had she changed? Did she do those things while she was with him, was she still doing them? If so then she hasn't changed. She may be embarrassed about her past but, that doesn't mean it is the end of the world. At worst she can tell her husband that she was like thst then but has changed for the better and she was ashamed and afraid he would reject her.

now if she cheated on him then he has cause to leave or seek out whatever means of redress he desires and can pull off.

Okay I'm getting off my soap box now.. Gave it a five* rating...

Clever interweaving of themes

You touched on so many themes in this story. First, losing the first marriage because of getting a little on the side. Then, the scared kids in college going all out to have sex with everybody because they see 'popularity' as an antidote for their insecurity. Then, finding his true love, the only woman in the universe for him. Then the destructive nature of secrets, and the total power that the person who knows the truth holds over another. Then the stupidity that a person displays by deciding that the laws of physics don't apply to him just because he has a reason to drive fast. Then there's the power of pure love, coupled with the power of prayer. Then comes the importance of forgiveness, and the purifying power of giving a person (two in this case, Sally and Leah) a second chance. And finally the redeeming quality of giving birth to innocent babies.

That's a lot to cram into what, 7000 words? Yet you did it, and you made every one of your points quite well. So if people want to treat this like a walk in the park, I think they haven't been paying attention to what they were reading. Don't listen to 'em! Keep up the good work!

Simply Fantastic

It's hard to believe that you can take such a simple plot and turn it into such an emotional whirl wind of a story. I wish I had half of your talent. To the person that bashed "UGH" you should try to be more forgiving. When I read a comment like UGH's I wonder what in their life has happened to cause them such pain. No, I'm not real religious but I try not to judge people because we never know what a person has been through to bring them to this point. That's probably why I like DG's stories. The ones I've read start out with a character with apparently little or no moral fiber but as the story progresses you learn the circumstances surrounding the questionable behavior and you begin to understand why the person did what they did. Again, Thank you DG I really enjoyed it.
