She looked into the eyes of a child.
She saw the future staring back
and it was clear.

Decisions were easier,
life was simpler,
because she had nothing to lose.

The child did.
Her child.
His.

Together they battled
fought, and compromised.
Behind closed doors
the child never saw,
never knew.

They would sit and eat.
Go to parties, Plays,
Movies and games.

Together they laughed,
Sang and danced.
The child saw.
Smiled and grinned.

While mom and dad slept
The child did not.
She battled, fought,
compromised.

Does she tell them?
Confess that she sees
and knows...
The Truth

Truth...
behind closed doors.
The secret signs,
the false smiles while
dances are performed,
movies watched.

Does she show them
that they are just the players
in a game
that hurts them all?

And does she share her secret?
The secret that children
are smart, sly,
and we need to give them credit.

Sometimes the children,
are smarter than us.

A sad commentary, but true

DC:

The young are here to learn and learn they will, whether we want or no. Thank You Ronnie W.

~~

A painfully insightful write

Of a pretend family's

Dance of lies.
