Sand in our hair, clinging to our skin.
Remember how it got there?
The two of us,
simple innocents,
lost in a moment of passion,
release, fun.

Kisses.
Strokes.
Whispered words filled our minds,
senses, bodies.

The sea rolled over us,
lapped at us like a salty tongue urging us on,
until we couldn’t stop.

Would we, if we could have?
Would we have stopped
and denied the pleasure,
the pain,
the guilt?

No need to answer questions
too late to ask.
So we wipe away the evidence.
The sand that has glued itself to us.
Our flesh,
now no longer innocent,
but marked by the evidence of our passion.

Sand in our hair, clinging to our skin.
Remember how it got there.

Excellent

Very sweet poem. I like your book ends: how you ask remember how it got there at the beginning and then urge remember how it got there at the end.

Now here I must beg to differ,

That the scene you describe here is pure innocence.
