In your hand
the remote
clicks the night
fantastic
and I am
an apparition
floating through,
in tucking children
and settling dishes,
until I unveil myself—
coppery hair falling
over creamy-skinned shoulders,
anointed and perfumed,
dressing my arms with bangles
my ears with dangles,
sliding myself between you
and the radiant glow
of the screen,
my heart fearing rejection—
will I be
the brightest thing
in the room?
