Love

The emotion of pleasure or pain
Lost forever
You found another
To bring you a child

My true love
I still hurt tonight
Body barren
And you left

Cold, heartless
You used me
When I only loved you
For you

Didn’t care
That we were poor
I had the only thing
I ever needed

Broken spirit
Can’t go on
Cast aside
In dark despair

Once pleasure
Peaceful bliss
Now torture
Hearing your name

Still existing
Day to day
Growing old
Alone

Love, fleeting
A rare butterfly
Net broken
Sorrow sets in

Awww!

Allow yourself to love others. The rewards are yours. You got a five from me.

Dark and Deep...

Shannon,

The poem is compelling and makes me realize we have a lot in common. Thank you for your words, and sharing them with us. We all have our good days and our bad, the trick is taking the bad and balancing them or overpowering them with the good.

A nice poem and I look forward to more.

I saw the title and thought,

"oh no, not another one,"

and was immediately swallowed

by dark verse filled with pain.

Not my usual favored style,

but it packs a bit of punch.

And then looking further I see

OMG another one - a Southern gal;

what is this, are y'all takin over?

Anyways, a warm Welcome to Lit;

will be looking to see how you develop here.
