2:19
AM.
I went to the window, peering through the slats
Of the blinds, watching thick flakes of snow
Drown the grass. I hoped that I could find
Some comfort seeing the blanket slowly form.
There was another presence in the room, I felt it,
I felt her. I hadn’t heard and footfalls.
I turned to the hallway, and she stood, hand leaning
Against the wall for support, one leg crossed over the other,
Head tilted slightly to the left. Her mouth opened slightly,
Words on her lips, trying to break the dim silence.
Another attempt,” I need, I need something to keep me warm.”
A brief glance down, told me that she wanted to say
Something else, but did not have the courage.
I walked slowly towards her, meaning to go to the closet,
“I have some extra blankets…” The words drifted
Into the darkness, as her hand touched my arm.
I stopped and looked directly into her face, one half,
Glowing from the light coming through the blinds.
My skin tingled, burned where her fingers and palm were.
“No, not blankets. Something else.”
I searched her eyes for what she needed; her lip trembled, but her
Eyes never wavered down to the floor.
My hand moved, on instinct, finger outward, searching,
Moving past the hair that was carelessly fallen over her shoulders.
After perfect, tangible moments, my fingertips touched her cheek.
The tingling and burning flared, as audible breaths escaped us both.
In slow motion, cinematic, the air pulsing with our
Hearts, we kissed. Abandoning of strength, of self, of waiting,
Into need, and desire and trembling flesh.
A vulnerable moment that was broken when her lips moved away,
And she pressed against me, arms quickly squeezing my torso.
A sigh, soft a summer wind, but as strong as a window breaking
Touched my ear. She seemed to fly up into my arm, my right arm under
Her upper back, my left under her legs, and I slowly carried her
To my bed. Her light body, almost limp with exhaustion, felt against
The cotton sheets and I placed her down, but her hand never left my
Arm, there since she first touched me. It pulled me gently next to here,
And I wrapped my arms around her. In silence, she nestled into my
Chest and legs, nudging into just the right spot, for her to fall asleep.
Legs entwined, my arm around her shoulder, words unnecessary,
She felt asleep, before I could even say goodnight.
In silence, the soft glow of the streetlights through the blinds,
We slept as one, the blankets in a rumpled pile at our feet.

A vignette full of nice description, but more prose than poetry? Why not expand it into a short story? It could be a good one.
