No inner sense of innocence for me
The shadow stripped the boy, now where's the man?
Naked desire masked by dignity
Inverts the light of pure delight as only shadows can
I see him every time I feel the sun
It cannot melt the cage created by his frozen rage
My life the shadow's own compendium
And I the captive leader who must walk down every page

How did the man become
A child of the midnight sun?
And find belonging in the dark Lord's Excommunion?
His heart beats cold, love is bought and sold
Though his face reflects its light
Blinding his lovers arms to hold
The shadow-dance tonight

Unknown he walks amongst the crowd
His costume is emotion
Unknown to them it masks the shroud
That mocks his false devotion
Unknown, alone, disowned and cruel
Hoping one day he’s born anew
Unknown the winner of that duel
Or who now shadows who
