There was a time that the night embraced me
A time when looking up to the stars warmed me
Each one held a hope of you
Captured a dream of us

That thought heated me to the core
I could feel you
Every star held promise

Your love felt like a blanket protecting my heart
Caressing my soul as no other had
Stars as reminders
There for me every night

I didn't think that warmth would fade
It has

I didn't think the heat could die
It did

I never thought your love would vanish
I was wrong

The night is just night
The stars are just stars
Once a hope
Became only a glittery speck
So very far away

Once a dream
Now just that glowing star
That fades with the morning

I always thought a star was to be wished on
Whether it the first of the night
Or one shooting across the sky
I closed my eyes and wished

What was once a vision
Is now just darkness
I was foolish
The stars have all fallen
