Through the summer wide window
I smell the pungent scent of flax as a
cool late afternoon breeze
jousts the flowers.

Strappy flax leaves glint in the sun, and
long shadows stretch into
transcendental, meditational shapes.

Vehicles traverse the main road, a
chugging farm tractor, the rolling
roar of a cattle truck, and the
hum drum rumble of
steady peak-working traffic.

A lone duck quacks in disgust, at
no longer being fed stale bread, and
unseen swallows sing with the wind.

wonderful poetic title

Some good phrases, but I'm captivated with "A lone duck quacks in disgust" I can see his face now. Yes, he is disgusted with this sudden turn of events. :)
