We’ve learned
that all the beautiful food we eat
turns to shit.
We mourn that.
We feel a little angry.
We say,
“We ate of the tree of life
and all we ate
turned to shit;
thanks a lot
creator of the tree of life!”
But
if we’re careful to observe the process
we can go a step further
and see that shit
can be turned into nutrients,
humus,
which creates beautiful food.
We only need to learn
to take that one extra step.
