Dating again at forty
different than at twenty,
skirts not quite so short
hair not quite as long.
Tiny crow’s feet
beat a path to sparkling eyes.

Hair still shimmers,
dimples still command attention,
eyes still as green
mysteries lurking in their depths.
Padded figure can still arouse
or so, its nice to believe.

Smattering of freckles
dots a fair face;
no longer frowned upon,
accepted and embraced.
Insightful smile reveals
a portal to inner recesses.

Forgives the fairytale
replaces the guilt
understands the unheard
emphasizes the unknown
realizes the intention
seeks the truth.

No wine and roses here,
iced tea and daisies suffice.
No sugary discourse
or eyelash banter;
just sincerity,
a nod of appreciation.

Cute

and yet has a hint of wisdom in it.

I really liked the crow's feet line.

I especially liked this:

Forgives the fairytale

replaces the guilt

understands the unheard

emphasizes the unknown

realizes the intention

seeks the truth.
