I sit alone in a darkened shadowed corner
The coldness seeping
Clear to the bone
A shiver runs hard
From head to toe

I hate what I see
I hate what I feel
I rise, as if feeling
The weight of the world
Pushing me down

I fight the pain
I fight to survive
To make it through one more day
Each step like agony

Wrapping my long dark cloak around me
Pulling the hood farther around me
Wanting to hide
Hoping the pain won't find me
As I seek the solace
In the darkness

The only sounds are those of my footsteps echoing
Down the darkened streets & alley ways
My only companion, a lone black cat
Who, also, cries for their love

How I long
To be in the light
How I long
For it's warmth
But fearing it's brightness
I remain in the dark.....
