your voice
still thrills me
but mine
has become
the 5 a.m. scream
of a colic’d child

you may love me
and answer my call
but all you really want
is to go
back to sleep

I will pray
that there might be a morning
when you will look
at me again
with untired eyes

maybe someday
you will remember
the way you felt
when twilight fell
and love me again

Maybe someday!

I'll add a prayer for your someday to my own. Until then ... lean on me, and I'll do the same.
