I never remember my dreams.
So when I wake up
searching
not for a person
but a presence
from the memory
on my lips
the distant echo
of your laughter
the cause of the tingle
that leaves me aching
I have to wonder

if we have never
spent a night
in each other's arms
why do I always awaken
to find
that you just left?
