This pine board has lived
a purpose cut short
I hold waning life in my hands.
I want to carve your stories
and display them for the
generations, but that
is not to be today.
Today you will become
a shelf, made for utility
not for art.
But I made you
and so you are my art.
and your take on simple things. So often poetry is made to seem lofty, like it wasn't meant for regular people like us. But your poetry is and always was real and beautiful, like you. I hope Heaven suits you Dear Lady.

with Tzara, in need of some punctuation in 2nd stanza. Agree w /Tzara about the rest also. Very tight, nice use of words, no varnish.

It is simple, in keeping with the title, but not over simple. Elegant, I think is how I would describe it.
The one suggestion I might make is on the punctuation. It seems to be missing some commas and perhaps a period. That may just be me being anal, though, or how I am reading it.
Really well done.
